Time for a BIG Giveaway!

This is how I've been feeling--a little depleted, a little overwhelmed, and a lot tired. My creative blog juices are running a little low. I'm sick of the non-stop construction on my street. I want a good treat and can't have one for ten more days. I want to be finished with the revisions on "For What It's Worth" and I want to start working on my next book (it's a love triangle). Summer is going by too fast, but Bruce's mission could go a little bit faster.

I'm in a bit of a slump and I need your help.

I heard of someone who asked her readers what she should write about, so that's what I'm doing.

WHAT SHOULD I WRITE ABOUT?

In exchange for your ideas, I'm going to give away a great prize.

A $25.00 Barnes and Noble gift card to buy a great summer read or two (or three or four if you shop the bargain tables).

AND

A chocolate chip cookie pie from Cookie Heaven. (worth $25.00)

So, help a sister out.

Leave a comment with your idea for a blog posting and you'll be entered to win.
If you want extra entries, follow me, tweet this, post it on your facebook or fly an airplane banner with my blog address. Be sure to leave me a comment about each of these (and a picture of the banner).

I'll be randomly choosing a winner at midnight on July 11.

BE SURE TO LEAVE YOUR EMAIL ADDRESS WITH YOUR COMMENTS.

sorry to hear you are in a slump! I think that could be a result of "the dog days of summer!" I hear ya on all of your "wants!" An old saying that might help..."this too shall pass." Topics to write about?
1.Casey Anthony trial and verdict.
2.Greatest joy...greatest sorrow.
3.Since you are feeling down, think about yourself and recognize your own personal gifts and share. (or not)
Well, that's all I have for now.
Last word of advice from the great actor, John Wayne. "BUCK UP LITTLE CAMPER!" Love ya, LMH
you could "honor" someone, tell a family reunion story, 40 Something (how do we cope with all these life changes?!), cheap date ideas, being snubbed on Facebook or other FB oddities, and maybe "teen-agers" (almost any angle on this subject would be good reading!) Do I get an entry for each idea? hee hee

you could write a posting entirely about me. :) hahaha.
Leslie said…
okay, fine... that was a joke ;).
let's see...

lisa's posting on facebook about child birth being a business... that would be a good one. or something similar.

You could do what I've been doing--try something new every week and then blog about the experience. Or you could go to an online writing prompts site and just pick any prompt at random (that's what I do for my weekly writing posts when I don't know what else to write about). You could revisit every year of your life and write a short story about one significant event from each year.

Good luck with everything! Slumps are no fun, so hopefully you'll feel back to your normal writing self soon!!

Dreams! I know I've had some pretty entertaining ones (like the one where I lived in an apartment building where all the other tenants were muppets) and I'm sure just about everyone else has had some interesting ones too. It would be fun to hear a rundown of your favorite (or least favorite?) dreams.
Melissa said…
If you're talking about book writing, you could write about a step family struggling to get along : a mom and a dad who each divorced and then married each other (or just adopted kids when they were single).

Or, maybe write about experiences you've had as a child/adult -- in third person!

If you need ideas for your blog, here's an tip: come up with a list of random topics, write/type them all on paper, and then cut them in strips and store in a "Blog Buddy" jar. Then, when you need some inspiration, pull out a "Blog Buddy" from your jar and type away!

{You can even have a separate jar for topics that have been recently used.}

Let's hear about your own love story. How did you and your husband meet/fall in love?
I always love the postings of your past experiences.
Rebecca Adams said…
I love Kristi's idea of writing about your own love story! I love reading how others met and fell in love, and then everything that went into wedding planning and all that. :)

You could also write about how many relatives you have on the Higginson side of the family. It's always fun counting (and trying to name) everyone in the family since there are so many of us (cousins, cousin's kids, etc.). haha!

How about an animal post? How many pets have you had growing up?

Meal ideas? I'm always interested in what meal plans everyone else has (not just one dish like you have on the recipe blog, but all the dishes that you would have in a meal). I love food! :)

That's about all the ideas I have for now. Hope this helps!

Write a story about a burned out woman who gets a shot in the arm when something wonderful and unexpected shows up in her mailbox. A chance of lifetime that rocks her world....

How's that? But I think just a plate of chocolate chip cookies from a friend would help you out. You need a girls night out!

You'll get out of your slump! Something will come. I think your should use the phrase, "Oh, what do you do in the summertime?" as inspiration. I would love to hear some White family ideas.

How about writing about finding a little piece of joy in your life everyday to get you through the hard times....laughing at yourself as therapy...or maybe how a good cry can make you feel better. Thanks. irishluck1114@yahoo.com

Write about hobbies, what do you do "if" you have free time? Or what you would do if there was such a thing? What have you done in the past for run, how have the hobbies evolved? What skills and gifts have you discovered about yourself as you spend time doing what you love? Going to have to go blog myself now. Not my free time, however.

I can't wait to read what comes next (book, blog...whatever), I love your perspective, insight, thoughts and critiques on life and its vagaries.

You could give a tribute to someone who has passed on. Or someone that is your second to youngest brother. You could write about the wussification of our silver-spooned youth. In other words, tell how much harder we had it than kids have it today; Or, how much harder they have it in some ways than we did...social everything, etc. I can't wait for my cookie!

If you could meet ANYONE, who would it be?
If you were an animal, what would you be?
If you were a plant, what would you be?

If you were a bug, what would you be?
If you were a zookeeper, what animal would you want to take care of?
If you saw a grizzly bear, what would you do?
If you saw a black bear, what would you do?
If you saw a polar bear and you didn't have a coat on, what would you do?
If you were at build a bear, what would you build?
If you were a koala, what would you eat?
If you were a panda, what color would you be?
If you were a gummy bear, you would be soft and warm in my pocket all day.
If you were Ferris, what would you do to sluff school?
I'm just getting started, I'll let you know the rest later.
Good luck. Can't wait to hear your answers.

Hey, sometimes my problem is just narrowing down all the things in my head and others it seems that nothing is exciting enough to pen. Maybe just write about a "typical" day in the life... I know days are rarely typical which might make for some good reading. Anyway, I'm sure you'll come up with some great stuff. You're blog is always a happy place for me!

Cheers!
